Recorded at Jimbo Mathus Delta Recording Studio in Clarksdale Mississippi, the record is steeped in the roots of Ken Hart's railroad family, and the songs themselves collectively tell stories of the relationship to the road; its freedom and its struggle
Bio / Background
Born in Tupelo and raised in Water Valley, MS, Ken Hart's roots as well as his early influences, Steve Earle, Hank Jr., and John Mellencamp, are evident in his music.
After borrowing a guitar from his younger brother, and learning a chord from a friend, Ken began buying albums and teaching himself to play. "I think I've probably listened to and played Pink Houses as much as anyone," he says.
In 1995 Ken moved to Fayetteville, AR for a career in the poultry industry. Two weeks later he met Northwest Arkansas legend, Jed Clampit.
After stalking Jed, never missing a performance, Ken developed a friendship with Jed who has become a mentor. "I guess Jed thought if he taught me to play the guitar a little I'd leave him alone. He was wrong, and we've been truest friends ever since. We have a unique bond, and I owe him more than I can ever repay. Jed is responsible for my first gig, the inspiration to write songs, and helping me realize how much I love making music.
