"Some events are stamped into one's consciousness to remain there forever. For me seeing The Kells play live for the first time was one such event. I watched three musicians... appear on stage and commence to play and weave their magic. Magic it certainly was - music that flowed on an ethereal and cerebral plane driven by some kind of celestial energy. It tripped the dancers feet into action, but it also went beyond and rested in some secret interior place. It was spirited music, Celtic music for mind and body and somewhere else in between. It was to quote Van Morrison 'inarticulate speech of the heart'."
