Katholicus provides high-energy guitar oriented Christian rock and rock-praise music, with catchy melodies and lots of double guitar leads; sort of like Eddie Van Halen playing the songs of Boston or Green Day or Collective Soul.
Bio / Background
Katholicus provides a high-energy Christian rock sound of both rock-praise music and rock music for enjoyment. The music features straight-forward Christian lyrics (often praise style), catchy melodies, plenty of harmonies, strong drums and excellent acoustic and electric guitar work with lots of double leads.
"No Greater Love" is the new release by Katholicus. This CD features six Christian rock praise songs, two straight-forward Christian rock songs, two guitar instrumentals with both acoustic and electric guitar performances, and a pop-rock love song to a loving wife, for a total of eleven songs. Most of the songs would be considered "commercially accessible."
Katholicus sometimes sounds like a lot of groups, yet sounds like no body else. It is hard to describe: guitar-oriented Christian rock with popish melodies, yet strong distorted guitar riffs with lots of double leads, sort of like Eddie Van Halen playing the songs of Boston and Green Day.
↓ more ↓The guitarist, singer and songwriter for Katholicus, Adam Miller, was formerly the lead guitarist for numerous unsigned bands including: Adam's Apple (1974), Iron Cross (1975), Wanted (1976-78), Atom (1978-79), Wysh (1980-82), Shockwave (1985, 1986-1990), Both Worlds (1985-86), RPM (1991-94), and now Katholicus (2005-). He is still unsigned! :-(
Miller has been influenced by such guitar greats as Phil Keaggy, Michael Schenker, Uli Jon Roth, Ritchie Blackmore, Vinnie Moore, and Steve Morse, but his music sounds like none of them. It is in his solos where you can hear such influences. He also has been told that in two of his songs his guitar solos sound like those of Stratovarius guitarist, Timmi Tolkki. In the solos of other songs you can hear the influence of the other guitarists mentioned. This means that those who may not be inclined to listen to the Christian rock genre, but appreciate these and other guitar greats, will also enjoy this CD by Katholicus.
Does Miller have any claim to fame? No. He will be the first to tell you that those guitarists who influenced his playing are all heads and shoulders above his playing, and he has never met any of them. However, back in the early eighties he used to jam with former Danzig guitarist John Christ. Miller even taught him a few lines and riffs. But that's as far as any claim to fame goes. It is the song writing and guitar work of Katholicus that will stand out and catch attention. So get the debut release.
"No Greater Love" is the first of many more CD's that Katholicus plans to release. So stay turned!
