Stunning and emotionally charged original jazz, featuring Kevin Karrick on guitar with trio/quartet variations, spanning traditional and smooth jazz styles.
Bio / Background
Sweeter All the Time is simply jazz and folk art about life in the fullest, played by an all-star cast. Much of this collection is inspired by Kevin's daughter Ellie, including the title cut, Sweeter All the Time, a contemporary jazz groove called Smoothie, the funky Rolling on The Elephant, Swinging High, The Happy Guitarist, and a lullaby called Angels Whispering in Your Ear, something Grandma said happened to Ellie when she was just a few months old.
Thanks is a tribute to legend guitarists Howard Roberts, Joe Pass, and Chet Atkins. Out of Towner is a humorous and harmonically challenging bebop tune, written about visiting relatives, and I Dig Snow is a folk song with jazz overtones, written about Colorado snow.
The core trio features Kevin Karrick on guitars, Jesse Lucas on 6-string, fretless bass and Colorado drummer, Mark Raynes.
↓ more ↓Byron Hamer, another Colorado veteran, adds Saxophone and Flute to three of the tunes, while pianist Mark Sloniker adds his recording experience and trademark expressiveness to another three.
