Bio / Background
This debut release from Kacey Musgraves, 18-year old singer/songwriter from Mineola, Texas contains 10 original songs, including several penned with co-writer Miranda Lambert, and two covers.
Kacey’s songwriting is to the point and from the heart. There is no shortage of attitude here, from the tongue-in-cheek humor of a redneck relationship gone bad in ”Nothing More” to the in your face declaration “You can stay here in Hell, I’m going back to Texas” of the first single, “Back to Texas.” Pedal steel and fiddle mix with gritty guitars to create a sound that is unmistakably Texas, making the song a natural choice for the first single. The two covers chosen to compliment the originals reveal some of the inspiration behind Kacey’s music: Neil Young’s “Heart of Gold”(featuring Kacey on harp) and The Byrd’s “You’re Still On My Mind” from the “Sweethearts of the Rodeo” album.

I bought this album not to long after it came out and I love it! Halfway to Memphis is an awesome song, and the first song i learned to play on guitar. Heart of Gold is an wonderful Neil Diamond cover song. If you like a texas honky tonk sound you will love this album!
