Crunchy guitar-driven rock with catchy melodies
Bio / Background
After years of playing music together in different capacities for years, longtime friends from Appalachian State University Linc Butler, Ryan Terrell, and Scott Hardesty formed the band Joe Hero in 2005 based in the triangle area of North Carolina around the capital city of Raleigh. As a rock trio, these music veterans wanted to deliver top-notch original songwriting which included searing guitar riffs and a driving rhythm section. At the same time they wanted melody to be vital, something that would stick with a listener long after they had heard the music. This vision has come to fruition with the release of their debut CD entitled “A Hero’s Welcome”. Recorded over the summer of 2007 at Nightsound Studios in Carrboro, NC (dubbed Best Recording Studio in the Triangle by local magazine The Independent), this disc accomplishes these musical goals with a collection of nine songs that stand out in today’s music scene.
↓ more ↓The opening track “Just Like Bruce Campbell Did” is a speedy rock tribute to the legendary B-movie actor. Also included is the melodic and insightful “Staring”, a song which had already generated buzz from the demo that the band had recorded two years earlier. Other standout tracks include the grungy “Anymore” and the catchy pop-rock of “My Anger”. Joe Hero’s “A Hero’s Welcome” is sure to please fans of bands like Foo Fighters, Green Day, King's X, and anyone who loves high-quality rock music.
