Bio / Background
"Don't Save the Kisses, Jodie Manross' new EP consists of six new songs - three self-penned originals and three favorite cover songs, including Howard Jones' "No One is to Blame." The live cuts were recorded live at the famous acoustic venue Eddie's Attic in Atlanta, GA in June 2004. The new studio songs were recorded and produced by Knoxville singer-songwriter Greg Horne, and include lap steel, piano, Wurlitzer organ, drums, bass and mandolin. There is a studio recording and a live version of Jodie's original song, Marie, written about Jodie's hometown in Pennsylvania. This is Jodie's first solo effort and first album since her band, the Jodie Manross Band, broke up last year.
With her acoustic-based folk rock that wanders from alt-country to blues, Jodie Manross has become one of East Tennessee's top singer-songwriters.
↓ more ↓Known as "the little woman with the big voice," she possesses a powerful voice much larger than her size and surprises audiences with her soulful delivery of songs. Since Jodie has begun touring nationally in cities such New York City and Los Angeles this year, she always loves to perform in her hometown of Knoxville. She has opened for artists such as John Mayer, Leon Russell, Mindy Smith, Rusted Root, Norman Blake and Keb' Mo' and performed at Southeast music festivals such as Atlanta's Dogwood Fesitval, Chattanooga's Riverbend Festival, Asheville's Bele Chere and Knoxville's Sundown in the City. Los Angeles Entertainment Weekly exclaimed this year, "Her crisp voice and illuminative songcraft belie her diminutive stature- equal parts wistful and urgent...Soon you'll be calling her "the Jodie Manross."
