Defying classification, this blend of roots, blues, country and jazz is pure oddball Americana.
Bio / Background
Jitterbug Thompson doesn't belong.
Born too far south of Chicago to be considered a Yankee but too far north of Tennessee to be a true southerner, founder Caleb Sweazy brought this everywhere and nowhere sensibility to Los Angeles with Jitterbug Thompson, a sound that manifests a dirty, sexy roots-blues-jazz-rock vibe while cleverly defying classification.
Upright bassist and California girl by way of the UK, Victoria brings her adopted homestate's flair for fusion to blend with Sweazy's sly vocals. This livewire duo creates a sound comfortably at home everywhere and in between, Jitterbug Thompson is making somebody's toes tap somewhere right now.

I have never written a review before... I found this album in the "free box" of unsolicited albums at Rounder Records (record label in Boston). Rounder has no idea what they lost. When I'm doing busy-work around the house and it's cold outside here New England, I put this album on and it transports me back down south. I dream of sippin' bourbon and sitting on the porch surrounded by green trees and spanish moss. I also put it on when I fell like dancing with some friends in the living room. The woman's voice sounds like an angel and I love singing along with her on "I Told You." The music is simple and even a bit pyschedelic . "Easy" is super sexy vocals with the guitar to back it up. "1 Track Mind" is totally rockin' and the lyrics are infectious. Well, I could say that about the whole album really. "442"...did I say "Easy" was sexy? "442" is even sexier. Ladies, get out that handkerchief and wipe that brow.
