What do you call it when Atwater-Donnelly and five remarkable friends get together to play great old-time gospel?
You call it Jerimoth Hill after the highest point in little Rhode Island, home of Elwood Donnelly and his wife Aubrey Atwater. With this, their tenth recording, Aubrey on mountain dulcimer, banjo and mandolin, and Elwood on lead vocals and guitar are joined by Cathy Clasper-Torch, fiddle and cello; Heidi Cerrigione, autoharp; John Cerrigione, bass; Uriah Donnelly, piano and lead guitar; and Kevin Doyle, percussion.
With The Halfway Ground, Elwood Donnelly — of Atwater-Donnelly — presents his long-awaited gospel album. This endeavor summarizes years of research throughout those hidden pockets of America where music, as an integral part of daily life, weaves an emotional thread through work and play, commitment and faith, endurance and hope, struggle and peace.
