ABOUT THE ALBUM "ESA"
Now I’m gonna be honest, I don’t know as much Spanish as I should or sometimes claim to, but when I was listening to these songs I was understanding!! And not only that, but it’s as if they were songs that I had written. It was like my diary, but in Spanish with music! Some of the songs sound like a hurt woman full of hate for the man who broke her heart like "Vas A Pagar," or "Mucha Mujer." Then there are the songs that are pure heartbreak songs like "Si Me Dejaras," "Prisionera de Tu Amor," and a playful little song called "De La Boca Para Afuera," which pretty much says “I know what you said, but you don’t mean it so I’m gonna stick around anyway.” Then those songs that are like pep talks to yourself, to just forget, be strong and move on like, "Corazon," "Olvidalo," and "Esa." Then just to complete the list of songs there’s “Con El” which is pretty much giving some other girl the ok to put the movida on the ex, and "Como Le Digo," which is about “me” wanting to trade in “my guy” for his best friend.
Like I said, it’s all over the place, but that’s how people are! No one can deny it and everyone goes through it at least once. I received these songs at a time when I was all over the place trying to understand what love was all about. It’s like I wanted to hate not just the person who broke my heart, but the emotion itself. But those proved IMPOSSIBLE! “Love sucks, it’s stupid,” is what I told everyone, but I didn’t think that at all!! I was just putting on a show so I could look tough. That’s what people do. The way I see it, if you are completely over something, it’s no longer a part of your life, you have no emotion for it. Hate is an emotion. I think it’s more of a cover-up word for a forbidden passion. So in a way, these are love songs! You always hate something you want, something you don’t posses. I was trying my hardest to recover from this heartbreak and it was so easy for me to relate to these songs, therefore it was easy to sing them because it’s what I felt, I really think you can hear that connection when you listen to them. It’s so cool to be so connected to these songs when I didn’t even write them, cuz it makes me think “how many other people can connect to them the way I did?”
This album is important, not only because it’s my first CD that I will introduce to the world and try to make it further with, but because these songs are mine! I hope you enjoy them!
Besos,
Jenna
