Jean has jammed and studied with some of the great vocalists of our time including Kitty Margolis, Kurt Elling, Madeline Eastman, Kevin Mahogany, and Mark Murphy. In addition to these great teachers, some of her largest influences have been Ella Fitzgerald, Carmen McRae, Miles Davis, Sarah Vaughan, Chet Baker, and Joni Mitchell.
Her voice is warm and silky, and can take on characteristics such as sexy, smoky, bell-like, rough, and "out there." Jean creates a variety of moods as she moves easily from a vulnerable intimacy to her distinctive quick wit and dry sense of humor. Whether it's swing or sultry, ballads or bluesy, or even something you may have never heard, Jean Mazzei draws listeners into her world, who will be left with a song in their hearts and smiles on their faces.
