Live solo record from MFS frontman.
Bio / Background
Live recording released in 2003 by former frontman/songwriter of Mother's Favorite Sons. MFS built a considerable following in the late '90s Los Angeles club scene, regularly filling venues such as The Mint, The Troubador, and The Viper Room. A typical MFS audience could include industry execs as diverse as Antonio "LA" Ried and Jordan Schur, as well as members of Matchbox 20 and Collective Soul. The band was tossed around the country on makeshift tours for two years and seemed destined to end up making thier first major release in Atlanta,GA for Arista Records. Last minute negotiations fell apart and the band became disillusioned with all things industry.
↓ more ↓Bassist Joe Ongie went on to play with other musicians (Aimee Mann/Minnie Driver) as well as produce records on his indie label (John Hoskinson/Michael Miller), guitarist Tim Neinhuis formed the acclaimed powerpop band "9 Ball", and drummer Dave Owens went on to his session life and did a long stint as drummer/percussionist with the broadway production of "The Lion King". Jason Eric Foster moved to Costa Mesa,CA and lived in a tiny studio apartment down the street from the famous "Detroit Bar". He played small acoustic gigs and worked on new material. These live recordings are what came out of "Apartment 12", often done late at night in front of a couple microphones with no engineer present. The songs are quiet (to avoid waking the neighbors) yet a little angry, much of this time Jason spent watching the Bush wars unfold on television and just couldn't make any sense of anything America was doing. This is evident in the tracks "God on your side", "Criminal King", and "The Greatest Show". Fans of dark folk music may enjoy these recordings, as well as anyone who enjoys acoustic guitar and clever lyrics.
