If you know who Steve Perry and Neil Peart are, you will like this disk. Progressive rock with strong vocals and drums
Bio / Background
"Swimming" is the first solo release from Jason Burke, a singer/songwriter living in North Carolina who has fronted several east coast rock bands (e.g., Over the Edge, Black Ice, King Friday). The music shows a strong influence from progressive hard rock bands of the past 30 years such as Rush, Journey, Dream Theater, Queensryche, and Yes. Most of the songs are built around a strong vocal performance backed by aggressive drum, guitar, and bass lines.
"Swimming" is a studio collaboration with a number of other musicians located at various places around the world, including:
Matthew Porcaro on Drums (Virginia)
Oliver Sampson on Bass (Germany)
Todd Serafin on Guitars (California)
Two additional artists are featured on one song: Brian Burke on keyboards (North Carolina) and Dave Lavin on guitar (California).
