Bio / Background
Many of us have faced a crisis in our lives. The important thing is how we have responded to it. Did that crisis bring you closer to God, further away, or did it not change your relationship with Him at all? Jim faced that crisis when he lost his business, a fast growing Information Technology Staffing business. The loss of the business shook his identity, his marriage, and his faith. But, during that crisis in his life he read many books on money and on faith in God and he discovered a new way to think about his faith and living life.
If we respond to our crisis in life in a way that brings us closer to God, we discover our real purpose in life. We are creatures that were created to worship God. We can worship God in everything we do in life. That is what Jim’s new CD is about, living a life of worship. Our purpose in life is to serve God by loving Him and showing it in serving others. There simply is no greater purpose in life.
↓ more ↓“The Stone” is one of the songs on the CD that expresses how futile it is to put too much trust in money. If we become materialistic, we will eventually find ourselves in debt because we keep wanting more. When we get into debt, we have sold ourselves into slavery to serving the god of mammon instead of the God of the Universe. That is what Jim did for awhile in his life, yet God delivered him and proved to be the only thing in life that was reliable.
“Surrender” is another song that continues the theme. It is hard to let go of all these things that have made us comfortable in life, but can disappear overnight. We have to let go of it all, and rely only on God to provide. We should find our comfort and security in Him.
This is why Jim has dedicated this CD to GINA for Missing Persons. Jannel Rap is a great role model for people who worship God. Take the trial that God has given you and turn it into a ministry that helps others. The greatest commandment tells us to love God, and we love God when we worship Him. We can worship Him by loving and serving others. GINA for Missing Persons is doing just that for families that are hurting.
The song “Language of Angels” caps off the CD with the idea that worship is powerful, more powerful than we realize. The song is taken from 2 Chronicles 20 where the story of King Jehoshaphat defeats his enemies solely with the power of worship. We can overcome the trials in our lives with worship. Jim’s pastor, Rick Warren, says “don’t worry, worship.” This has become a theme for Jim.
