Bio / Background
Originally hailing from Providence, Rhode Island prior to their relocation to Los Angeles in July 2004, Immune draws on musical influences as far ranging and timeless as Creedence Clearwater Revival, the Beatles, Nirvana and Radiohead. Vocalist/guitarist Rob Shulze, guitarist Josh Spears, bassist Alex Torres, and drummer Johnny Skaare combine essential rock song craft with a gutsy, visceral veneer which constitutes pure Immune.
In a relatively short time, Immune's galvanizing live performances have built up a loyal fanbase in New England, as well as a regional following spilling into the Midwest, Southeast and throughout Southern California. Immune has made an immediate impact on the LA scene with live performances at Viper Room, The Gig, Troubadour, and Key Club, among many others. The band has also received favorable coverage and reviews in the renowned Music Connection magazine, LA Splash, Rock City News, and Publicity Whore.
↓ more ↓Immune has thus far opened for Local H (Key Club, April 2005), Lifehouse (Dreamworks), Tantric (Maverick), Finger Eleven (Wind-Up), and Theory of a Deadman (604/Roadrunner), with the latter performance having led to the band's cover feature in the July 2003 issue of Future Impact magazine. Immune also performed at the 2002 Midwest Music Summit in Indianapolis.
National awareness of Immune intensified when their music began to receive extensive exposure on several seasons and numerous episodes of MTV's The Real World, The Real World/Road Rules Challenge, Inferno and RW/RR Challenge - Battle of the Sexes. Immune has received upward of 50 placements on these programs thus far. Immune also released 'Fading in the Sun', an EP which has sold nearly 10,000 copies since its release in September 2003.
Immune maintains an intimate relationship with their fans via an active web presence (www.immuneri.com) and attracted more so-called industry buzz when their song 'A Better Dream' was featured on Demo Diaries.com. In addition, Immune has begun to forge a relationship with KROQ in Los Angeles, particularly with DJs Kat Corbett and Stryker, who mentioned the band on-air. Immune also maintains an excellent relationship with George Wellinger, KROQ's Promotions Director.
Most recently, Immune has begun to collaborate with producer Bryan Carlstrom, who worked with Dave Jerden on records by artists such as Alice in Chains ("Dirt"), The Offspring, and many others (Bryan's full discography can be found at www.bryancarlstrom.com).
The band looks forward to the results of their efforts with Carlstrom as they continue to grow and develop while maintaining the musical essence which has allowed them to establish a dedicated core of fans worldwide.
