Jazz in the solo virtuoso style with a mixture of beautiful standards and originals by one of the worlds formost vibraphone players
Bio / Background
Ian Ballantine is considered one of the finest jazz vibraphone players in the world, as well as playing piano and flute. Based in London England his discography includes jazz from smooth solo virtuoso playing, to duo's, trio's with some of Britain's outstanding musicians, playing standards/jazz Standards, to Fusion with the Ballantine/Shaw Band and Latin American with Ian's band Semuta, playing great originals. He has also been extensively involved in music education teaching classical and pop as well as jazz to a wide range of students.
The album ' Alone' performs some of the loveliest standards type compositions ever written, many of them seldom played, with also some great originals ( the track 'Another Winter' by Ian Ballantine can also be heard in a quartet format on the album 'Urnioc Pixl' with the Ballantine/Shaw Band on CAT Records CAT002CD).
↓ more ↓The use of the vibraphone playing solo is also seldom heard and the combination of this beautiful sound with these compositions is not to be missed.
