70's groovin', fuzz-laden, melodic, catchy hard rock by trio from Calgary,AB Canada. Some call it Stoner Rock/Space Rock/Desert Rock. Kick back, enjoy, and decide for yourself where Hypnopilot fit in...but then again does it matter?
Bio / Background
Formed in Calgary in 2002, from ad placed by Matthew looking for people into bands like; Black Sabbath, Kyuss, QOTSA, Beaver, Corrosion of Conformity, and Tool. The trio took on name 'Prescribed Burn' in 2003..played a couple of gigs late in the year. In late 2004 they recorded their self titled - release, which wasn't officially released until 2006. Just prior to releasing the album...the band had to be sure about the name. They decided to change it to Hypnopilot, named after the song by Norwegian band Honcho. The band had gotten their hands on 'Corporate Rock', A masterpiece as far as the band was concerned. The band had covered the song Hypnopilot for their first 3 gigs, and it seemed a great name for a band. They contacted Honcho and asked for their blessing in using the name, which they graciously gave. They were ready to release 'Hypnopilot S/T', their self titled debut.
↓ more ↓Gigging in and around Calgary for almost four years now, the band has other wise ventured only as far as Golden & Vancouver in British Columbia, and Lethbridge (Garwin's hometown) in Southern Alberta.
These 3 have recorded a little demo of things to come...some basement recordings if you will. Their self produced tracks are at http://www.download.com/hypnopilot 7 free mp3's. The band is hoping to get into the studio for early 2007. Check them out live...
