Bio / Background
Based in the song-writing team of married couple Scott Womer (acoustic guitar/vocals) and Patty Womer (lead vocal), the band Hundred Monkey Theory's sound is created by the individual inputs, combined with the team effort and vision of its members.
Upon returning to Albany, NY (after living in Nashville, TN for 5 years), Scott and Patty quickly established relationships with many existing area musicians and friends among whom were Dennis Gardner (bass) and his wife Rachel Gardner (second voice). After a few rehearsals together to perform some of Scott and Patty's original tunes, the songs began to evolve. It quickly became obvious that the creative dynamic within this group was that of a band. So calling themselves Hundred Monkey Theory (you can do the research), they went to work making music in their individual and collaborative way. In 2004 HMT went into the studio to record some of their songs.
↓ more ↓The result of that studio time is their first release: a 6-track EP called "This Sterile Room".
Hundred Monkey Theory's current lineup consists of original members Scott, Patty, Dennis and Rachel, with Dave Bremer (drums/djembe) and Michelle Williams (violin). Part of HMT's appeal is its ability to transform to venue. You may get a show in a cozy coffee shop that's intimate and acoustic, or you may see them in a concert venue at their fullest. You'll have to come see for yourself.
