Bio / Background
Rod Hughey's musical path in life has been a dynamic journey. From open mic nights, two Kantishna Music Festivals, and bar appearances around Alaska to venues around the lower 48 to his home state of Michigan where he made several appearances sitting in with Souls, Inc., a Contemporary Christian Group.
Rod moved to Alaska in the spring of 2001 to "screw his head on straight", as he likes to tell people. Living on the streets of Flint, Michigan kept him anchored to the reality that he was going to have to define his future or let the streets define it for him. The one positive he possessed and would take to Alaska was his love of music and his guitar, which he learned from his father as a teenager. He was impressed by energy of the Alaskan music scene, and it is that influence that spawned his musical journey. He enjoys playing anywhere now, and likes hanging out with fans and other artists alike.
