Melodic vocals combined with great musicianship from this progressive-rock band bring listeners on a 76-minute journey into various musical styles and ideas.
Bio / Background
Hourglass is an original progressive-rock band from Utah. Amidst their own recognizable sound, you might hear influences that span decades, from Yes and Pink Floyd to Dream Theater and Enchant, from Rush to Kansas. The band's focus is great songwriting without sacrificing great musicianship and vice versa.
This release sees vocalist Chad Neth make his debut with the band in an impressive way. Chad's solid mid-range voice blends with Brick Williams' soaring guitars, Jerry Stenquist's lead-based keyboards, John Dunston's aggressive technical drumming, and Jonny Berrett's thumping low-end to create a listening experience. "The Journey Into" is filled with 76 minutes worth of music and only 6 tracks, but the epic songs hold the listener start to finish. Great for longtime fans of technical rock music as well as newcomers to the progressive genre.
