Hope Alane's vocals are bright and lilting, and producer john paints with a palette of atmospheric guitars, human-infused drum machines, tack piano, analog synths and the like that embrace the singer and her songs in a way that makes this release one of those rare ear gems you'll keep. Like a box full of photographs or something. This is very highly recommended.

Hope Alane's disc succeeds on account of its unconventional experimentation. Be it the layered vocals of pretty "Pacific Grove" or the microtonal shifts in the solo of "Brave," it's clear Hope Alane isn't afraid to try new things out.
