Bio / Background
Roots to Roots and Beyond is Dave Holden's CD connecting jazz musicians from the 1930's to the present-day musicians. This project is a tribute to roots - Dave's roots began in jazz and so this album was a love project - to get together with some of the musicians from his beginning years and combine that history with today's younger musicians. ROOTS TO ROOTS AND BEYOND begins with the first "roots", Dave's father, Oscar Holden, a professional musician who moved to Seattle in 1919. Oscar is called "the patriarch of Early Seattle jazz" and is on the cover of the book entitled, "The Roots of Jazz in Seattle - Jackson Street After Hours" written by Paul DeBarros. !
