Phil Bayer (Hank) writes songs in the tradition of Gram Parsons, Neil Young and Wilco.
Bio / Background
Phil Bayer wrote and sang all the songs on Hank and Ruth. He is currently playing solo and with his new juke box rockin blues band (Open Bones) around the Minneapolis area.
The Hank and Ruth album consists of Phil Bayer, Shawn Gibbons (singing harmony) and a bunch of Phil's old buddies who used to play in or with the band called the Modern Day Saints from Carbondale Illinois.
All the players on Hank and Ruth believe in music that springs from wood and metal. They believe in the deep feelings that have cried out in blues, country, folk and rock over the last century. They believe that words can shift perceptions and change lives. They believe that the simple act of singing in harmony along with guitars can still touch hearts. Phil Bayer and all his friends, who helped create this record, strive to be a part of our proud American music tradition.
