Bio / Background
Jefferson Hamer's work as a solo and ensemble performer has brought him to club and festival stages all over the country. His original material is smart, focused, and shaped with a keen eye for situational irony, where characters are well aware of their own pitfalls, only to fall into them again and again. His melodic sense is heavily influenced by Celtic and Appalachian folk, imbuing the new material with echos of long-standing traditions. His guitar playing is understated, yet at points leaps through songs with a taste and technique that approaches virtuosity. Left Wing Sweetheart is Jefferson's debut full-length solo release. The album features acclaimed Producer/Slide Guitarist Sally Van Meter, who has performed and recorded with David Grisman, Jerry Garcia, Tony Rice, Chris Hillman, Jerry Douglas, Peter Rowan and the Rowan Brothers, Laurie Lewis, Russ Barenberg, Kathy Kallick, the Nashville Bluegrass Band, Maura O'Connell, Leftover Salmon, and many more.
