Gustav Bertha's 'My Life as a Dog' is the antithesis of marketed pop music, it's how Dido would be without the prozac: this is the soundtrack for contemporary film noir.
Bio / Background
'My Life as a Dog' is the latest collection of songs from Gustav Bertha. These are all deeply personal songs intimately played. Gustav Bertha's themes are familiar to us all: love, hate, joy, sadness, madness, disillusionment, rejection and acceptance - yet the quirky lyrical twists bring an unexpected freshness. The performance throughout is bravely low-key and delicate with subtle orchestrations framing his unique voice and distinctive piano playing. Gustav Bertha's artful mixing of indie-pop with classic 'chanson' gives the sound an agreeable contemporary edge. The whole mood is reminiscent of the smoke-laden ambience prevalent in vintage film noir.
