Blistering swamp rock with an indy rock tinge, including accordion, toy piano, and bass wrapped around a burning guitar and drum foundation. If Calexico and Pink Floyd had a bastard lovechild, it would be Grubstake.
Bio / Background
Grubstake plays bluesy, stripped-lean rock with rich, swampy undertones. Highlighted by a bunch of accordion and other eclectic keys, the songs are held together by simmering drums and a fat-bottomed Travis Bean buzzing hum.
"Ghosts of Arkadelphia" is the band's second offering, once again recorded by Grubstake and delivered straight from their bubbling laboratory cauldron to your nearest CD player. Great listening for a barbeque or when you wake up in the middle of the night, "Ghosts..." has a little bit of everything, from the kitchen sink to the cat's meow.
Boston's stuff@night reports, "This is one of those quirky, intelligent discs that got stuck in our CD player and just wouldn't come out."
