Bio / Background
Grafite (composed of brother team Marco/Peter Mastromattei and Eddie Festa) is a three piece power trio based in the Boston area since the late 80’s.
Touring the East Coast has resulted in a large following, finally getting interest from A&M Records in New York City.
The making of there first CD went completely over budget sending Grafite into financial turmoil. The master’s were held hostage until complete payment of the balance was payed to the mastering studio. These events delayed Grafite’s first release by one year.
In 1994 Grafite’s self titled CD was finally ready for release. When Grafite legal representative presented the CD to A&M they took one look at the cover picture and said “we are not investing into hair bands anymore”, due to the recent success of the “Grunge” sound and look..
In disbelief Grafite took their first release to distribution on their own. The resistance to “Hair Bands” was felt at all four corners of the business.
↓ more ↓Grafite finally went back to the drawing board to re-invent themselves by changing the name and going back into the studio to work on a “new” sound rather than joining the grunge band wagon.
Today Grafite members have regrouped to tour and record their second album titled "Crawling Up". Eddie Festa (original drummer) left the band in 1996 to pursue a career in dirt bike racing. Eddie was replaced by Mike Albiero one of Boston's most esteemed drummers, accompanied by bass groove master Steve Spence.
Today Grafite can be found on 53 different digital distribution websites including: iTunes, Best Buy, SnoCap, Napster, Verizon and Tower Records to mention a few. Fans can listen to all there works at www.JackRecords.com.
