Dark ethereal post-rock that appeals to your pop sensibility.
Bio / Background
From Albuquerque, NM USA
With the many thousands of rock groups out there, it is discouraging how identical many of them sound, having to explain themselves as a cross between this band and that. The Albuquerque-based group GoMotorCar rebukes the overdone concepts of what is expected from a rock-n-roll band and takes their music in an incomparable direction.
The members of the band are veterans of the Albuquerque rock scene and formed GoMotorCar in August of 2000 to break the conventional formula of verse/chorus, verse/chorus with a unique indie/gothic/post-rock sound. Their dark, ethereal sound relies on dynamic changes, switches in time signature and unpredictable lyrical routes to keep audiences captivated and intrigued. Lenny D'Wayne and Johnny Cassidy share lead vocals and guitar duty, while Roger T. (bass/keyboard) and Dagmar Andrews (drums, percussion) comprise the rhythm section.

The result of this collaboration has been their nine-track debut album entitled "Thanks For Sharing My Head" and the new CD-EP "When I Feel ----- Sometimes I -----" released Jan 25th, 2002 - less than a year after the release of their debut full length. Both albums are released with Albuquerque's leading indie label Socyermom Records (www.socyermom.com). D'Wayne's magnetic and domineering voice complements Cassidy's higher register reflective and spiritual tone.
The combination of these diverse personalities creates distinct moods on each song. GoMotorCar can express a haunting intensity and switch to orchestrated distortion and forceful rhythms within the confines of a song. With gothic overtones, the group is not afraid to build up or collapse a song at any time. In short, each song is its own entity. GoMotorCar's stage presence is as equally engaging. Dressed in all black, the band's rough and tumble appearance fits well in the bars and clubs they play along Route 66. Using only red lights, the "black collar" foursome puts forth artistic and emotional performances, challenging audiences with their mature sound. In any given song, they have the ability to build up false expectations and seamlessly swing the intensity 180degrees.
Consequently, GoMotorCar is not a fill-in-the-blank rock band. They pride themselves on the diversity of their personalities and musical style. With the release of "When I Feel ----- Sometimes I -----" and their continued support of "Thanks For Sharing My Head," GoMotorCar expects to captivate the Southwest and beyond in 2002 with its dark and daring approach. One night at a time.
