The Nebulas are a high octane, Boston-based surf & drag combo of the finest caliber featuring Mike Dominguez (lead guitar), Dan-O Ware (rhythm guitar), Eric Grammer (bass) and "Too-Fast" Jim Nichols (drums). Wearing anything on stage from standard issue black & white bowling shirts, to black flight suits, to impersonating the bridge crew of the original 1960s Star Trek series, and using exclusively vintage-sounding Fender and Mosrite equipment - The Nebulas have left an indelible impression on audiences on both coasts. Coming off the heels of a recent whirlwind tour of the west coast in support of its critically-acclaimed debut CD, "Nebula One" on Tivertone Records (from which the song "T-16" originates), The Nebulas plan to be actively writing material for a 2nd CD as this compilation goes to press. The Bitch Boys - They started playing as a joke... and they really liked it! After just a month they recorded their first 19 tracks in a single day...Unfortunately except for some individuals like DJ Zlobec, DJ Jure Longyka and their friends nobody really believed they had some potential! Finally radio HIT (Stane Cencelj) offered help and released their album "...In Heat". Here's Phil Dirt's comment on their release: "Slovenia's Bitch Boys write and arrange well crafted instrumentals based on surf music's finer points. Fluid melodies, great production values, and original ideas, coupled with a real reverence for the genre's roots, make for great listening. The Cocktail Preachers are one of the leading instro bands in the Midwest surf music scene. Hailing from Chicago, IL, they are: Stevie Martini (guitar), Phil Tiki (bass) and Kerry Orze (drums). Blending their punk roots with their love of instrumental Surf and Spy music, The Cocktail Preachers are spreading the Sermon of Surf throughout the nation. By taking "The Word" to the people, the Cocktail Preachers can be seen in smoky Chicago nightclubs as well as on the road, including a recent trip to the left coast. The Retroliners, comprised of Mike Beckerman (bass), Dave Schreck (drums), and Michael Welch (guitar), are a surf-style instrumental combo whose eclectic blend of vintage guitar tones and modern sonics produces a unique interpretation of dark, angular spy music spiked with pop, punk, twist and twang. In their rendition of "Dr. Yes", The Retroliners capture the essence of spy surf but do so with considerable post-punk authority, further blurring the boundaries between traditional surf and its contemporary rock offshoot. "Rumble in the Stratosphere 2002" is a remake of a popular song from The Retroliners' "Raybans, Roadtrips, and Reverb" album. The Metalunas are one of the leading instro bands in the Western Canadian surf music scene. Zorros Petardos Salvajes ("ZPS") began in 1997 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, playing a very peculiar interpretation of sixties surf garage instro punk. ZPS are: El Torte - Drums, Zorro A - Fuzz Guitar, Sr. Todochou - Bass and Heavy Petardo - Killer Guitar. ZPS are one of Argentina's unique bands who dare to perform Instro Surf Rock. The performance is like Byker or Motorsurf-style, depending on the show. Estrume'n'tal is a metal-punk-surf instrumental band from Minas Gerais, Brazil. With over 300 miles separating them from the nearest beach, Gui and Lino (guitars) Fred (bass) and Claudão (drums) cannot properly explain why they play surf music, since they, among other people in the business, can't surf - but the truth is that they have played instrumental rock'n'roll together since the mid-eighties. Heavily distorted guitars over frantic bass lines and a savage drum beat are a trademark of this band, whose original "Vacalgada" is from their first album, "Surfme'n'tal", recently released by Golly Gee Records (www.gollygeerecords.com). thesurfmotherfuckers ("tsmf"), along with their friends from Estrume´n´tal and others, is proud of having played a significant role in building a Surf Rock scene reputation for Belo Horizonte, the Brazilian city Dick Dale once fell in love with. The Brainwashers - Pete Weinberger, original Guitarist of The Surf Trio, formed The Brainwashers with Bob Becker and Mark Stern in 1996. Bassists Jay Breeton, Mark Emmons and Jim Fritz have since contributed to the mix, and the resulting tunes are as awesome and powerful as the waves themselves, drenched and dripping with reverb, Oregon style. Bustin Surfboards are: Kevin Seas on Drums, Mike Walter on Bass and featuring Ralph Rebel on Guitar. "Spanish Fly" is a Ralph Rebel composition written specially for this release, and features Pete Crugnale on Bass. If you took the DNA of Scotty Moore and mixed it with that of Dick Dale you would have the sound of Ralph Rebel's guitar.
