The piano pieces by Jaroslaw Golembiowski echo the most important traditions taken from the European musical past: baroque, classical and romantic.
Bio / Background
Adam Golka is 15-year old pianist already prizewinner of numerous national and international competitions; these include the Missouri Southern International Piano Competition in Joplin, Missouri; the Isabel Scionti International Piano Solo Contest in Kingsville, Texas; the Chopin International Piano Competition in Corpus Christi, Texas; and the MTNA-Baldwin Piano Performance Contest.
He has appeared in recital in Chicago, Miami, Washington, D.C., and Houston (where he currently resides) in the United States, as well as in many cities in Poland. Adam has also performed as soloist with orchestra, including performances with such orchestras as the Houston Symphony, the Forth Worth Chamber Orchestra, the Warsaw Jeunesses Musicales Orchestra, and the "Bydgoszcz Musical Impressions" Festival Youth Orchestra. His first solo album- the piano works of composer Jaroslaw Golembiowski- is currently in the process of being released.
Adam has been studying piano since he was 5 years old.
↓ more ↓His teachers include Anna Karczewska-Golka (his mother), Dariusz Pawlas, and José Feghali, whom Adam currently studies with in Fort Worth, Texas.
Composer Jaroslaw Golembiowski was born in Poland on February 10, 1958. He holds two Master of Art degrees from the Karol Lipinski Academy of Music in Wroclaw, Poland, where he studied music education and composition (under Zygmunt Herembeszta).
In 1986, Golembiowski became a resident of Chicago and established a piano studio. His first published work, Candlelight, appears in Colorful Keyboard Classics- Volume 2, published by the Spectrum Music Press. In 1988, Golembiowski composed his string quartet, commissioned by the Kosciuszko Foundation, for the Penderecki String Quartet.
Since then, many soloists and ensembles have regularly performed his music. Other comissions he has completed include: Primavera (1987) for choir and chamber orchestra, commissioned by the Lira Singers; Homage to Paderewski (1990), commissioned by the Polonus Philatelic Society; and Three Mazurkas for piano solo (1999), commissioned by the Polish American Congress, Illinois Division.
Some of his compositions include Cry, Reflection and Hope for violin and piano, Space-Time Vibrations for two pianos, Concerto - Epitaph for violin and string orchestra, three piano concertos, a cello sonata, a piano sonata, and a symphony. In 1995, he registered the J. Golembiowski Music Productions. His first book under this label, Piano Games, is a collection of children's pieces dedicated to his students.
In 2001, Golembiowski finished his Millennial Polonaise for symphony orchestra, commissioned by the Lake Shore Symphony Orchestra and the Polish Arts Club of Chicago (premiered in 2001 at the Copernicus Cultural Center in Chicago). 2002 marks the release of compact disc New Music -New Pianist with his music played by pianist Adam Golka.
In addition to composing and teaching, Golembiowski has been invited on several occasions to give lectures about Polish music and composing techniques.
Jaroslaw Golembiowski's creativity shows a great variety of musical techniques, and reflects his lifetime of focused study. His music has been inspired by common and extraordinary events that reach a universal audience. He has received grants from the American Composers Forum, the Margaret Fairbank Jory Coping Assistance Program, the Polish National Alliance, the Illinois Arts Council, and the Polish Ministry of Culture.
Jaroslaw Golembiowski has been an active member of the American Society of Composers and Publishers, the Chicago Chapter of the American Composers Forum, the Polish Arts Club of Chicago, and the Chicago Area Music Teachers Association. He is a founder and president of The Chicago Chopin Society.
