Wantu Wazuri in Swahili means, beautiful people in the now world of jazz and jazz fusion. The name Eddie Fisher is fast becoming the Wantu Wazuri with the guitar.
Edward Thomas Fisher was born in Little Rock, Arkansas. His father who had a feeling for the blues guitar, got eddie involved in music at the age of ten. For seven years the keen young Fisher listened, planned ,absorbed and got it together. At the age of seventeen Eddie planned his escape from Little Rock. After graduating from high school he made his move. his first stop was Memphis Tennessee, where he studied with fine misicians and friends such as : Robert Tally, Isaac Hayes, Willie Mitchell. Andrew Love, Steve Croper and many others. In time the youthful Fisher was off again as band leader on national tours with Solomon Burke. After touring Fisher headed to St.Louis, Mo. as band leader for Albert King.
↓ more ↓Finally hearing the call to jazz in the wilderness he joined with Leo Gooden who owned the star- studded BLUE NOTE CLUB at 42nd Street where the musical elite would meet Oliver Nelson, Dave Sanborn, Jimmy Smith, Oliver Lake, w/ Miles Davis stopping to listen-see.
Eddie's first two albums THE THIRD CUP and THE NEXT ONE HUNDRED YEARS for CHESS-CADET RECORDS began his international career. Eddie later sign with ALL PLATINUM RECORDS where he recored his third album HOT LUNCH. Soon Eddie established his own record label NENTU RECORDS where he recorded his next two albums FISHER and THE PROMISE.

Arkansas Jazz Heritage Foundation Hall Of Fame Induction 2004. On May 22,2004 Jazz Guitarist and Producer Eddie Fisher along with Scott Joplin (posthumously) are being inducted into the Arkansas Jazz Hall of Fame.
This special event is held at the OLD STATE HOUSE MUSEUM in Little Rock Arkansas. Eddie has also accepted the foundation's invitation to be featured at the celebration in recognition of his contribution as an acclaimed jazz artist.
POET EUGENE B. REDMOND writes 42nd Street "cup" Eddie Fisher's Third Eye.... embraces his numerous- generous selves, " fish-ing " for rhythm-morsels in a sweaty-sugary sea of heritage, spirit-filled with John Lee Hooker, Charlie Christian, B.B.
