Bio / Background
Fiancé is the product of four distinct and prolific songwriters all intent on melding their individual styles to create their own unique brand of music. "The greatest part about this band" Patrick McGuire (keys/lead vocals) says "is that we all have such different musical influences, but they all work so well together." The Denver based band was formed in 2006 when several songs that Patrick had written and posted online caught the ear of another local songwriter named Michael James (guitars/vocals). McGuire's songs also intrigued a new-found friend named Tyler Reschke (bass/vocals) who he had met when they shared duties waiting tables at a local restaurant.
After only playing together a couple times, the three realized there was an immediate chemistry. "The first couple songs we worked out came together so fast." Michael remembers. "Things just clicked into place.

That's how it was the first few times we played together. It just worked on a lot of levels." After several months of writing additional material and auditioning drummers, Fiancé met up with Chris Sturniolo (drums) and the line-up was complete.
Fiancé recently released their debut EP titled 'Girl From the Ivory Coast.' With upbeat and pop-infused melodies of songs like 'Something Blue' to the slow building intensity of others like the title track 'Girl From the Ivory Coast' the EP spans the full spectrum of what Fiancé's music is all about. The band has also been quickly building fan base by playing live shows not only in their native Colorado, but regionally in surrounding states including Utah, New Mexico, and as far east as Iowa and Wisconsin. In 2007, Fiancé was hand selected by a panel of CMJ judges to perform on the Virgin College Mega Tour (Talib Kweli, Sugarcult, William Tell). They have shared the stage with many nationally touring acts including Golden Arm Trio, Minmae, & Four Fifty One at venues on the forefront of the underground scene such as The Hi-Dive, and The Larimer Lounge. Fiancé was also recently asked to perform in 97.3FM KBCO’s Studio C (a Boulder, CO radio station made famous by performances from artists ranging from Dave Matthews Band to Coldplay).
Even though Fiancé is hard at work supporting 'Girl From the Ivory Coast' with live shows, the band has also found time to write new material and begin recording a follow up EP. “We learned a lot recording ‘Ivory Coast’” Patrick says. “I’m really proud of what we did with that recording. But I am so excited about our new material. We’ve been through this process as a band once before, and this next album is going to be that much better because of it.” The band hopes to release the follow up EP as soon as the end of 2007.
