A two piece band made up of guitar and drums. They switch instruments and play their own blend of homespun punk / pop with melodic harmonies
Editorial review
The Femursare a rudimentary group who often keep things to a minimum. And unlike other tandems who can dish out big beefy sounds ? la White Stripes, this group has much more in common with high-octane, highbrow pop bands like the Housemartins, as is the case during the pleasing "Vitamins" and the finer, frantic "Round and Round." Not quite as quirky lyrically as groups such as They Might Be Giants or Barenaked Ladies, the Femurs offer up strong, catchy songs throughout with the appealing "Girl for Everyone." The first true highlight is the lovely "Crazy Girl" that is teeming with toe-tapping, head-bobbing hooks. But this is quickly followed up with another nugget titled "Not Giving Up" that brings to mind an early album from Bishop Allen. The duo's gorgeous harmonies are another asset on the record (which is culled from two different EPs). And repeated listens are almost required of the delectable "Allison." This is the type of album that is great in short spurts or listens, with "Plastic Swords" still fun but not having that oomph of earlier tracks. Despite a few lulls on the second half of the record, things come back up to snuff with "Calgon" which is rife with Beach Boys-like breezy harmonies. ~ Jason MacNeil, All Music Guide
Bio / Background
The Femurs are a two piece band originally from NYC but currently living and residing in sweet sunny Seattle.
Femurs are made up of guitar and drums and they switch instruments between songs.
Both Rob Femur and Colin Femur are childhood friends that met in the halls of the third grade NY school system..while in that system Los Femurs developed a "homespun" punk / pop/ rock style that found its home in parks, basements, punk houses and highschool dances...
Upon moving to Seattle the Femurs started to create a louder and more harmonized version of their ramones-esq homespun punk...
The Femurs "Modern Mexico" is a 12 song cd that shows off their ability to record songs...The cd is a proud moment in Femurs history and is here for your enjoyment...
"Modern Mexico" is a combination of two EPs...the first 6
songs were recently recorded and cost mucho dinero...the second 6 songs originally appeared as an EP in 2006 under the name "Jack Caffery vs.
↓ more ↓Chuck Scarborough" (which was named after our two favorite NYC news anchormen)
