Bio / Background
Rebecca Fanya is a native New Yorker whose abundant talent, warmth, and charm have made her something of an icon in New York's downtown musician network. Whether singing backup for Marc Anthony at Madison Square Garden, trilling in Zulu with cast members from The Lion King on Broadway (for the likes of Maya Angelou), laying down studio vocals in front of Harry Belafonte, or tunesmithing in the studio with Grammy®-winning producer/engineer Benny Faccone, Rebecca's voice has been heard here, there, and everywhere.
Rebecca's feeling for divergent styles of music developed from an early age and her voice came to be noticed by a wide variety of musical greats. Session calls came from sidemen working with Paul Simon and Bonnie Raitt among others. Gospel singers in the subway and Harlem soukous bands deepened her sense of rhythm and soul.
