Bio / Background
E-Turn (originally released as an LP in 1985) is being reissued on CD in honor of its 20th anniversary!! The CD actually looks like a small vinyl
record!! With artwork from Cal Schenkel (Frank Zappa's artist), E-Turn is both eye candy and ear candy! Plus there's 3 bonus tracks including Essra's original recording of Change of Heart before Cyndi Lauper recorded it and it became a huge hit! Essra's songs have also been recorded by Tina Turner, Peabo Bryson and Vanilla Fudge among many others. Essra was a featured singer on Schoolhouse Rock and she sang background for Jerry Garcia, Frank Zappa, Carole King and John Mellencamp. E-Turn, the name of Essra's band during the 80's, stands for Eternal Youth, Eternal Life, Eternal Truth. The band members include original SNL drummer Daoud Shaw (Van Morrison, Etta James) and bassist Steve Beskrone (Ray Charles).
