Bio / Background

Eris O’Brien lives in Melbourne, Australia, which is arguably the music hub of the Great Southern Land. One of this country’s most respected music icons, Ross Wilson, has described him thus: “ Eris is my most significant song writing partner. His lyric skills and melodic sense have added a lot to my own music development.” (Check out Ross’ albums on cdbaby!).

Eris started writing in the early 80’s. Since that time he has had a number of works covered by other Australian artists including: Ian Moss, Jimmy Barnes, Christine Anu, Paul Kelly and Ross Wilson. Seeing himself primarily as a songwriter, Eris, through his publisher, sought out others to perform his works. It was not until the new millennium dawned that the urge to release a solo album would mark the change from writer to performer. Eris’ debut release: Blessed Fool was the result.
