Bio / Background

Civic Studies: Dedicated to Rachel, four-year old daughter of a drug dealer living in poverty in rural America. May she grow up to a better world.

It's an election year (1996) and we've heard lots of BS about this guy being a Washington outsider and that guy being a Washington insider. We though it was about time to hear the voice of those who actually live *Inside the Beltway*. The truest measure of any society is how it treats the least of its members. Next we hear the anger of the disabled man who feels that he is treated as a *Boy Phoney* and the homeless man who asks "What's wrong with America?" and seeks reality in the *Breadline*. We put these concerns in a broader context in a prayer to the American goddess, *Mother Liberty*. Then in *Burdick Street* we hear the frustrations of living in public housing, where one is treated as if one had no civil liberties. One might think that all these problems would go away if one just had job. But no...
