pre-Raphaelite folk rock, wide-open road songs and a taste of psychedelia. Joni Mitchell meets Incredible String Band meets XTC.
Bio / Background
Once upon a time Elena moved from the big city Los Angeles after graduating college, to a tiny town in the Northern California Sierra foothills. This was because of a theory by Terence McKenna about Novelty and the Time wave. All the change brought about a deep psychological disturbance, and Elena found herself in a deep depression. One day she was sitting by a waterfall named Gypsy Falls and she heard a voice -- from the water itself! and it said, "sing. to heal yourself you must vibrate sound through your body." And so she did. Not long after, her first song popped out. It was called "blue dragonfly" and it was about her brother whom she hadn't seen in a few years. Her husband Jeffrey Clark, who was a singer in a band called Shiva Burlesque which had broken up a while before said, "that is an amazing song. I wish I'd written it!" So he took her into Rob Warren's studio and they recorded it.
↓ more ↓Elena was hooked, and song after song started tumbling out with the help of Kelly Foley as well as Robbie and Jeff. The result is this album, Elena's first, with all the innocence and spirit of that time. Fractal Hoedown.
