Bio / Background
The Elements -- Roots style reggae with a twist...
That's a good way to describe the reggae jamz that flow from THE ELEMENTS. This release is a groovin' set of rootsy reggae flavored with homegrown riffs.
The Elements have been brewing their flavor of homegrown reggae since 1984. Being close to New Orleans, the Elements have used Baton Rouge as a cool place to incubate the rythms and flavors that have found the way into the sound, and then hatch the reggae flavors down the Mississippi all the way to New Orleans.
Over the years the band has been influenced by various members, mainly from the Louisiana area; however, the uniqe flavor they bring have some definite roots in the influnces members that bring Jamaican, Cuban British, and Guyanese cultural ites.
Musically, the Elements have stayed grounded in the Roots style of Reggae, with strong influences from the music of Bob Marley, Steel Pulse and Third World.
↓ more ↓This sound provided the foundation of the musical development as a cover band for several years. In the mid 90's the band made a conscious effort to focus on bringing some of their own sounds forward, and produced their first CD "Don't Worry Now" under their own label, FireAirWaterEarth Productions.
Their latest release "The Brightness" keeps true to the roots flavor that is so crucial to their sound.
