Piano pop with substance. Don't be surprised to find yourself humming these songs long after you've turned off your stereo.
Bio / Background
ed started playing the piano when he was five years old. it was clear from the very beginning that music was ed's calling; within months of starting lessons, he displayed an impressive mastery of such complex songs as "mary had a little lamb" and "twinkle, twinkle, little star" and shortly thereafter acquired the ability to play two notes at the same time. before long, ed was performing "chopsticks" on a regular basis for any and all visitors to the rhee household.
ed was born in van nuys, CA but moved to philadelphia, PA because philly had the fresh prince and dj jazzy jeff; van nuys did not. philly also had those steps that sylvester stallone ran on in 'rocky.' however, unbeknownst to ed, his cross-country relocation inadvertently set off the whole east coast vs. west coast rap war, for which he has been meaning to apologize for quite some time now. his bust.
↓ more ↓while growing up in philadelphia, ed attended a local school well-known for its performing arts program and soon began playing and traveling with all four of the school's musical groups. the jazz band proved to be the most influential of the four, instilling in ed both a strong sense of rhythm and an aversion to all forms of bad music.
college saw ed's return to southern california, and it was during his fourth year as a prestigious undeclared studies major at UCLA that he decided to seriously pursue a career in music. having grown accustomed to the academic rigors of not having a major, ed stayed an extra year to complete his studies and to musically prepare himself for the road ahead. part of this preparation included various methods of vocal self-teaching, of which singing in the shower played a major part. seriously.
ed brings a vibrant originality to today's music scene, a sound driven by his unique brand of piano-based rock. armed with a keyboard and a healthy dose of boyish charm, ed is looking to make a name for himself in the los angeles music scene and beyond. having already played multiple times to crowds numbering in the thousands, he seems poised to do just that.
