A virtual one-Man band. Composed all the tracks(mostly instrumental), played all the instruments (except percussions), mastered/produced the CD and did the graphic design. Absolute lover of music sharing the fruits of my hobby. This one is blues based wit
Bio / Background
Musically started when the family moved prior to sixth grade and the school had a band. Though all the seats and instruments were filled, the music director fed off my enthusiasm and found a spare instrument, the trombone. I didn't care and learned how to read music, though reading music is too tedious for me now. I started playing guitar in 8th grade, learning folk music (basically singing and playing acoustically). Grew up listening to many genres of music, thanks to my Dad for being such an audiophile. I took to playing blues later in Life, which was a great outlet for me therapeutically. Having an uncle who played harmonica (Chicago style) with some well known blues artists over the years (Rod Piazza, Johnny Turner, Johnny Fulton, Otis Rush, Robert Cray that I'm aware of) was a great influence and inspiration. I had a couple of opportunities to jam with him in my early blues years. Would have been incredible if he was still around.
Musically, I'm a fanatic in so many ways.
↓ more ↓I gravitate towards heavy guitar laden tracks. If there are lyrics, they need to be purposeful, meaningful and/or playful. The CD "When Jambo Gitz Da Bluz" relfects that. A few years ago, I picked up the bass while jamming with a studio band in the Sacramento area. Prior to that, I toyed with the keyboards (Mom was a classical pianist) that I got for my son who is very musically inclined and talented in many areas of his life, my other inspiration. He plays guitar now.
Recently copyrighted 48 tracks of music, mostly soundtrack related for videos, film projects, commercials, etc. This first CD is a compilation of the blues based tracks. A couple of the tracks are designed to be jam-a-long. One track for example, jambalong B12, is a bass line only track in the key of 'B' utilizing the 1-4-5 or 12 bar blues and may spawn a future contest for laying guitar tracks over it. This was inspired by a class I did for Colfax H.S. in Northern California(some impressively talented students in that class) in late 2006 on the independent artist/producer and jammed a few tracks off "When Jambo Gitz Da Bluz" and "Naturez Wrath" acoustically.
Since I'm an independent and a single Dad, there's no budget for advertising/promoting. Just word of mouth and a handful of websites. My second CD, which is all instrumental and more metal/hard rock based with a touch of Mid East flavor on a couple of tracks, is virtually ready to go and is titled after my favorite track, Naturez Wrath. This was inspired by a film/animation project from a close friend and is geared for high end stereo systems.
I've compiled the third CD and started laying down the tracks and am preparing to lay the vocals down. Because of my lifestyle, there's no time for playing gigs, at least not yet. I'd probably have to quit my day job, which has been Information Technology related for the last 20 years. Thanks to my IT experience, I'm able to quickly learn the software necessary for producing/mastering, etc. I played all the instruments, mastered all the tracks, graphic designed and overall solely produced the CD. Hope you enjoy what you hear and keep supporting us independents, keep the big record companies shaking in their boots and scratching their heads. Blessings. EJ...
