Not quite a boy band but far from barbershop. This sextet from Utah State University blends especially well and parks its sound in between traditional doo wop and more contemporary grooves. The group applies their harmony to several Top 40 hits from the '80s and '90s, most of which are first takes in the a cappella world. It may be the first purely vocal album to host songs by Savage Garden, the Police, Toto, or K-Ci and JoJo. Still, half the album is lent to you from the group's original material. "Look My Way" promises Patrick Rose and Shayne Taylor a long, successful career in songwriting. The strong concord of "Sharing the Sky" and the rhythm of "Vision" secure a place aside popular acts like Inside Out and Voice Male.
