Retard-Core music at its best..
Bio / Background
Dynamite Club was formed in the year 2001 by retard-core/bebop guitarist Kentaro Saito, with young and furious NYC avant-garde drummer Mike Pride (of Mr. Bungle side project MP3, William Parker, Aardvarks and Antenna Terra). DC's dizzying music comes off as a blend of punk, math rock, musical theatre & avant-rock - think Boredoms, Naked City, Mr. Bungle, Ornette Coleman & Frank Zappa with splashes of Pasolini & Jodorowsky. One downtown journalist, pressed to describe their sound as best he could, scribed "First turn on every major appliance in your home (blenders, vacuum cleaners, hair dryers etc). Pop in your favorite Bruce Lee movie and turn the volume on the television all the way up."
The band has employed a Spinal Tap-like succession of bass players - indeed, finding a bassist who can play intense and complicated music (entertaining all the while) is no easy task. Currently working with bassist #5, Dynamite Club have also recently employed the alto sax talents of Dr.

Dynamite Club's unforgettable live performances, blending intricate, devastating music with insane kung fu fighting and stage antics, have become a fixture of the new NYC rock-n-roll scene. They can frequently be seen blowing audiences' expectations away at revered clubs like The Knitting Factory, CBGB's, and Meow Mix, and were also the scene-mashing crowd favorite at this years Block Island Music Festival in Rhode Island.
"THE LEGEND OF TIGER MASK," their debut CD on Big Sleep Records, captures Dynamite Club at their most furious, and doesn't sound quite like anything you've heard committed to tape recently. Recorded during the winter of 2001/2002 and featuring incredibly inventive production & dense arrangements (intricate horn lines, crazy layered vocals, insane noise, bizarre solos and more), this is a singular entertainment experience not to be missed. A single track can lull you with pure pop bliss then kick your ass somewhere into an intoxicating experimental jazz/punk orbit.
