This album is very unique starting in the Alt-Country genre and meandering through Jazzy, Rock n' Roll styles, and Roots Rock. Sounds like Gram Parsons was driving down a old country road and picked up Neil Young and the Rolling Stones hitch-hiking.
Bio / Background
Don Gallardo has played in numerous bands in California from Bluegrass to Rock N'Roll. He has opened for or been on the same bill as Peter Rowan, Yonder Mountain String Band, Rosanne Cash, & Joe Craven. His solo music style is Alt-Country which is a country that lacks the industry looks and cheap lyricsm. This is a country that Bob Dylan, Gram Parsons, Uncle Tupelo, Wilco, Neil Young, & Ryan Adams have used to their advantage. The songs are well crafted songs with stories of heartbreak, missed lovers, & loner outlaws.
The lyrics on this album are strong with great vocal harmonies. Each song has a different crop of musicians on it which shows the diversity of this singer/songwriter. With 12 songs listed and a hidden track it is well worth the price. A definate driving in your car album!
