Bio / Background
The History of the Dick Twang Band and The Old Blue Car.
circa 1992
Elvis is alive, and at the Dawson, and many other places too. Elvis Manywounds came from Assumption, Alberta. He has been playing and singing and winning talent shows for many years. Elvis tried to get a regular job once but didn't keep it too long, he got too hammered. He played fiddle all the time and got his brother Horace to play bass and regular guitar. Their cousin seymour hair always played drums as his family was the original drumming people. He says it's part of his culture. Hair played in the Bowden band and in Prince George for awhile.
Elvis and Horace met Dick Twang at the wake for uncle Sylvester in Onion Lake and jammed all one day one saturday and went all the way in Dick's pickup to High Level to do a gig.
↓ more ↓Elvis called the classifieds radio program in Dawson Creek to try and sell his workboots and some extra vcr's and Horace taped it right from his console stereo and they laughed so hard that they wrote that classic "Elvis at the Dawson"...the hit song "Old Blue Car" came soon after...Elvis drank some lysol like uncle Sylvester used to do and wrote the "Lysol Rap" and told his aunty liz to fuck off, but that was a long time ago and as they say ...
Sound like bullshit?... as you may or may not know, the Dick Twang Band is a highly original & very funny band of musicians who set out to record some fun original tunes that they had written onto a tape for themselves to enjoy. Well, the word got out, slowly at first, and soon many people dropped by during the recording sessions, some musically talented and some not, to give their encouragement and input to these boys, on this, their very first recording. The tape was always rolling, and many extra musicians and fans were recorded for the first time on tape. The master was recorded amidst much hoopla and beer on a very cold winter in Pouce Coupe, British Columbia, Canada, on a fostex 4-track multitracker at the now-defunct Blue Haze studios. Well, everyone that had showed up to the sessions during that winter asked for copies of it, and soon Dick was making more copies from his master tapes than he cared to. So he hired a manufacturing company to make his tapes, and a printer to print his labels and graphics, and soon realized that he was in the record business, and he couldn't afford to give his tapes away anymore. Not to mention that his circle of friends was growing rapidly larger, as he had begun to develop a following on his way to becoming the cultural icon that he is today. His fame and that of the band exploded on the internet since the beginning of it, and he became one of the most downloaded artists on the old p2p sites with over 440,000 downloads. And consistently in the top 40 on the old mp3.com comedy charts. Now on ubl and ibc charts and shopped to satellite radio! Now get this classic comedy cd for yourself that's been enjoyed by so many for years!
that's all.
