Dewey Brown was introduced to bluegrass music at an early age. Born in Alamance County, NC to Flonnie and Dewey Brown. Learning the basics of flddling from Scott Greason. When he met J. B. Prince his fiddling skills advanced. His time with J. B. taught him the basics of Old-time fiddling. He also studied with two other great teachers Bob Bowling and Young Sheffield.
After seaver years of local fiddle competitions he entered the Galax Fiddlers Convention in 1999. At the age of 17 and a senior in high school won first place and never entered another competition again. Following year he joined the band BlueRidge with Terry Baucom, Alan Bibey, and Randy Graham for the next two and a half years. He had the opportunity to fill in with Goldwing Express, David Parmley & Continental Divide, The Bluegrass Cardinals, and the late Charlie Waller & the Country Gentlemen.
The summer of 2002, he began to work for Honi Deaton and Dream.
