Bio / Background
Lisa Deveaux has crafted a sophisticated style of contemporary, pop jazz that reflects as much depth and flavor as her rich ethnic heritage-a mix of African American, Creole, Native American and Czech ancestry. Her brand of music blends Brazilian, Smooth, and R&B sounds that capture jazz's versatility. Deveaux's deep passion for her music makes the release of her debut CD, 'Shakin' That Jazz' one of the most gratifying moments of her career. Singing background with Phyllis Hyman (her mentor) and Barry White, taught Deveaux about the commitment and discipline necessary to sustain in the business. She describes the album as a "smooth and mellow reflection of romantic love with a sultry approach, reminscent of Sade and Natalie Cole." The title track, "Shakin' That Jazz," which Deveaux wrote, is a sassy rendition that pays homage to several great legends of jazz.
