DESERT HEAT is a blend of country/pop/rock with a very original sound full of drivin acoustic guitar and banjo with wicked cool electic guitar leads and 4 part vocal harmonies. Take a listen.
Bio / Background
The Country Music industry is always full of surprises and DESERT HEAT, country music’s dark horse is certainly no exception. A band that began in a barn in rural Quebec nearly 17 years ago has the big boys in Nashville talking.
No one was expecting one of country’s hottest new acts to explode from this part of North America. There has not been a major country band emerge from this part of Canada in industry memory.
Ever.
DESERT HEAT’s song writing style and sound is truly unique, influenced by the rural isolation but rich cultural history of their home. Their music could best be described as a blend of traditional country music, folk, bluegrass, pop and driving rock. The lyrical content is image-rich story telling with a simple sentimental voice and street-smart, fun-loving sensibility.
DESERT HEAT’s debut CD (which was co-produced by Wayne Warner) on the B-Venturous record label, “Forever Road” is quickly gaining critical acclaim across Canada and the USA.
↓ more ↓The first single, “Gone (but not forgotten)” was immediately picked up by country radio stations radio across Canada and put into regular rotation literally within days of its release. DESERT HEAT is to be officially introduced in to the USA in early 2006. They have already built a substantial fan base to the south, penetrating the market coast-to-coast and border-to-border solely through word of mouth.
Recently, DESERT HEAT was the one of the opening acts for The Road Hammers on their sold-out tour across Canada. Immediately the two bands hit it off and audience reaction was nothing short of phenomenal. After the shows new fans eagerly lined up to meet the band, to have autographs signed and take pictures with the boys as well as the headliner.
With over 1000 professional live performances under their belt, DESERT HEAT knows how to put on an explosive and dynamic show. In the early years they won numerous back-to-back regional battle of the bands competitions. In 1996, the group landed a gig with Canadian broadcasting giant, CBC (the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, National TV and CBC radio), performing for the season launch party. Their successes lead to them becoming the house band for numerous other CBC events. Kenny King (CBC Senior Manager, Eastern Sales for CBC Media Sales & Marketing) claims, “ DESERT HEAT was a major high light of CBC’s 1997 Fall Launch event in Montreal…They were so well received that they were booked for four more subsequent CBC events in ‘97, ‘98 and ’99. Simply put, the ‘Heat rules!”
The release of their first album, ‘Forever Road’ is just the beginning for this group. With over 200 original songs yet to be recorded they are standing at the precipice of becoming one of the greatest country rock acts to ever come south. This is a dark horse worth betting on.
