Dept. of Energy Biography:
Seattle's sublime pop threesome Dept. of Energy is comprised of Robb Benson (singer/guitarist), Ty Bailie (keyboards, organ) and Cassady Laton (drums). Like other great power trio's (Cream, The Police, The 3 Stooges), Dept. of Energy are a true example of the sum outweighing the individual parts. It is the mix of their individual enery and influences that creates the structure for the beautifully crafted album "Held By Waits".
"Held By Waits" is Dept. of Energy's first full length album and follows their critically acclaimed debut "EP" (released 2006 on Roam Records). Recorded by production guru Johnny Sangster (Lillydale, Mudhoney, The Posies) "Held By Waits" displays the talents of a band that has grown into its own. Rather than simply reproduce the style and sound of their initial release, they expand and improve upon it. The result...
