Flowing, yet punchy instrumental textures and arrangements teamed up with melodic but intricate rock songs - Art Pop at its best.
Editorial review
On this, their 2003 release and first full-length album in four years, Connecticut art popsters the Dent can be found as poised as ever for breakthrough impact. Their brand of power pop features Mitchell Linker's delicate and polished "Simon & Garfunkel meets the Beatles" lead vocals sitting atop a beefy underbelly of guitar, bass, and drums. Some of the songs throw in sweet keyboard strings for good measure. For the most part, Farewell consists of spry melodic pop. The infectious "End of the World" sounds like a single that could chart. While the sound is safely radio grade (and despite a few filler tracks not worthy of note), many of the Dent's songs take interesting melodic forays that keep the collection from ever becoming overly predictable. Having relocated from Ithaca to Connecticut, the band seemed to have found its legs again. ~ Jim Esch, All Music Guide
Bio / Background
The Dent follows up their 2002 release "Neurotica" with the more artsy but equally hooky "Farewell". This is a full length album of 2003 not to be missed.
